# The impeachment motion against CJI
Opposition parties led by Congress MP Ghulam Nabi Azad have submitted an impeachment motion against Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra to Rajya Sabha Chairman Venkaiah Naidu.Around 60 opposition leaders signed the motion, while TMC and DMK MPs refrained from it.The move comes after CJI-led Supreme Court bench dismissed petitions seeking a probe into Judge BH Loya’s death.

US Senate has confirmed President Donald Trump-nominated Representative Jim Bridenstine to serve as NASA’s 13th administrator.His confirmation following a vote in the Senate ends the longest span of time that NASA has operated without a permanent leader.Bridenstine, a pilot in US Navy Reserve currently serves on the House Armed Services Committee & Science, Space & Technology Committee.

Chhattisgarh govt. will start distributing smartphones to over 50 lakh people for free from May under the Sanchar Kranti Yojana.Under the scheme, 40 lakh phones will be given to women heads of households in villages having population of more than 1,000.Smartphones will help to apprise people with the government’s welfare schemes and about the processes to avail benefits.
# States to allow private licence for taxis
Centre has asked states to allow drivers to use private licence for driving taxis and light vehicles for commercial purposes.However, commercial driving licences would be required for trucks, buses, heavy commercial vehicles and other medium.Exemption from obtaining the endorsement for commercial vehicles would apply to motor cycles and light motor vehicles like taxis, e-rickshaw/e-cart.
# SBI allows cash withdrawl at PoS Terminals
To beat the cash crunch, SBI is allowing debit cardholders withdraw money from its Point of Sale terminals without any charges.According to RBI, a customer can withdraw Rs 1,000 in tier 1 & 2 cities, whereas Rs 2,000 can be withdrawn in tier 3 to tier 6 cities per day per card.SBI has over 6 lakh PoS machines of which nearly 5 lakh machines are enabled to dispense cash to its customers.

Environment Ministry has framed new rules governing country’s coastline in which it has proposed expanding land area for development activities & tourism infrastructure.Draft proposes a No Development Zone of 20m to be stipulated for all islands close to main land coast.It also proposes temporary tourism facilities such as shacks, toilet blocks, change rooms, and others at beaches.

According to World Bank, India has 19 crore adults without a bank account, making it the world’s 2nd largest unbanked population.India’s adult population with a bank account has more than doubled to 80% since 2011.Jan-Dhan Yojana has brought an additional 310 million Indians into formal banking system by March 2018.China has world’s largest unbanked population, followed by India & Pak.
